Singing, or singing together, is a real passion for many. Choirs bring people together regardless of their age, gender, cultural background, social status, education or disabilities. Anyone who wishes to sing is welcome in a choir. Not that taking this step is always so easy. A mental or physical disability can be a hindrance to singing together. However, with the project ‘Hearts in Harmony’, the European choir world aims to remove this kind of threshold and show that singing together has no limits. Instead it can engage people with disabilities in music in a new and creative way. Many choirs and choral organisations in different European countries are already developing activities for people at risk for exclusion that can inspire other choirs, singers and choral directors to do the same
